At Random
AT RANDOM – A very brief history!
At Random started with a desire to create their own sound and identity, but to do it by playing any variety of musical styles.
Brother’s Jon and Andrew Muecke formed the backbone of the band since it’s inception (1991), and over the years independently released cassette EP’s, CD’s & video’s to an international market.
The band’s foundation came from playing live on the pub & club circuit. By playing so many gigs in the early days (sometimes requiring over 40 originals to complete the night), the band was able to develop an exciting live show with a formidable catalogue of original tunes.
In 1994, an Australian TV show chose one of the bands tracks (All In My Mind) to do a video clip, receiving national coverage, and also providing At Random with their first instrumental ‘backing track’ on television. Their music has since been used on a variety of television programs, diverse as children’s to current affair shows, as well as film and video documentaries.
The band’s most successful period came with the release of a UK/Europe issued only CD, ‘Box Seat’ EP and accompanying release of a video to ‘That Reminds Me’ in June 1998. The track received worldwide MTV airplay, playing alongside acts such as Massive Attack and Portishead.
